I am trying to remember someone that I knew in the 1960s (through the  Hertfordshire Association of Boys Clubs). He was a Lieutenant Colonel who lived at Little Gaddesden. I can't recall his name but I would know it if I saw it. He organised the HABC Hertfordshire Cricket team that I represented back in the 60s.

Lt.-Col. Ralph Crawley-Boevey Gibbs was the son of Henry Martin Gibbs and Emily Anna Otter. He was born on 24 July 1891. He married Dorothy Elizabeth Houldsworth, daughter of Reverend William Thomas Houldsworth, on 5 August 1915. He died on 10 August 1957 at age 66.

He gained the rank of honory Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Corps of Military Police. He lived at Little Gaddesden, Hertfordshire, England.

Although this gentleman died in 1957 so was slightly before when you were thinking of, there is a list of his children there - might one of them be who you are looking for?

Thanks James
The chap I am looking for would have been about 60 in 1963. Little Gaddesden must have been full of Lieutenant Colonels!
Peter.

Hmm. I've been doing a bit more internet trawling.

The National Association of Boys' Clubs changed its' name to The National Association of Clubs for Young People in 1993.

The local contact on their website (http://www.nacyp.org.uk) is listed as a Mr Stuart Pittman who can be contacted on 01438 219068. They also have a local website at http://www.hertsyouth.co.uk/who.html which has lots of contacts - no Lieutenant Colonels unfortunately - but it might be worth contacting them to see if they've got an archive file or similar.

The other way forward might be to phone a guy called  Ivan on 01442866101 - he is the contact listed for Little Gaddesden Youth Cricket and might know of someone who would know of who was doing it in the 1960s. That telephone number came from this web page: http://www.hertscricket.org/news.asp?leagueId=98

Good luck with your searching!

James
