Brookmans Park village road closures for four weeks
« on: July 07, 2012, 10:29:28 am »
Just seen this notice on Bluebridge Road. For those who didn't spot it here are the details.

Quote
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
ORDER UNDER SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
____________________________________________________________________________

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF STATION ROAD/BRADMORE GREEN/BLUEBRIGE ROAD, BROOKMANS PARK
____________________________________________________________________________

By an Order made by the Hertfordshire County Council

ALL TRAFFIC IS PROHIBITED

from using that length of Station Road/Bradmore Green/Bluebride Road, Brookmans Park from a point 100 metres north of its junction with Bradmore Lane southwards, eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Hawkshead Road, a distance of approximately 1580 metres, except for access.

The purpose of the Order is to enable highway maintenance works together with bus stop works to take place.

It is anticipated that the section of road will be closed for up to 4 weeks, sometime during the period 16 July 2012 and 10 August 2012, when signs are in place. An alternative signed route will be provided for traffic whilst the road closure is in place.

If you have any queries about the highway maintenance works together with bus stop works or the temporary road closure, please contact Sumeet Singh tel 0300 123 4047 at Hertfordshire Highways.

So reading from the above, is this section marked in red the bit that will be closed except for access?  Or have I got it wrong?  And I wonder whether station parking comes under the 'except for access' condition?

And what about going from Welham Green to the Library and shops?

Probably have to go along A1000 and down Georges Wood, Brookmans Avenue or Mymms Drive, Moffats Lane.

David, I think your interpretation is correct.  After the bridge closure, yet another hammering for our poor shopkeepers. :-X

Should we start a book on the works running longer than 4 weeks?

The road bridge over the railway (Station Road) by Brookmans Park Station is currently closed - no idea how long for!

Is it open for pedestrians?

Are there any road closures and diversions in the Moffats Lane/Bluebridge Road area tomorrow?

I have split a few comments from this thread and moved them to the discussion - and poll - about whether there should be a pedestrian crossing in Brookmans Park village.  The reason for moving the contributions, by Helen, saffie, sasquartch, Bob Horrocks and Brooky P, is to keep all similar topics together. Nothing has been deleted.

If you want to vote in the poll about the crossing, please go to the existing thread and scroll to the top of the page.

Rather than start a new topic I have posted this here for information

The whole length of Hawkshead Lane is to be closed  between 9.30am and 3.30pm on Monday 17 September 2012.  The purpose is to enable utility service works to take place.  I dfon't know how people will get to and from the Vet College or the houses on the lane!
