Welham Green Residents Association
A new residents Association was formed a few weeks ago.  The idea is to discuss and find solutions to community issues as well as simply bringing the community together with things such as street parties.

By forming the association the hope is we can bring more weight to bear on issues which affect us all such as the planned incinerator.

It is early days for the association and they need to reach as many potential new members as possible.  Any ideas or issues you have will be very welcome.  Even if you are not inclined to be overly vocal or donít usually join "groups" please give this some consideration.  The next meeting is on Monday 14th May at 7.30pm at The Social Club, Station Road, Welham Green.  The social club is in the building next to North Mymms Memorial Hall.

If you can, please go along and register you name, you do not have to attend meetings if you donít wish but they will be able to update you on local issues and if something affects you or catches your imagination you will be able to have your say or simply add your name to any support or objections.

I have attached a copy of the flyer.

I am not involved in the running of this association.  If you have questions you will get the best answers by popping along.  However I may be able to provide contact details for those who are behind it if you do have any queries.

Hi 12benny, welcome to the forum. I have tweeted your post with a link to what you wrote. You might want to get others who are keen to promote the meeting to retweet my tweet or do their own.

Welcome to the Forum. Could you let me have contact details please?  My email address is b.horrocks (AT) sky.com.  Replace the 'AT' with the usual '@' of course - done to fool spider software.
I am a North Mymms Parish Councillor so I am aware of a number of Welham Green activities.  As examples, there is/was a 'Welham Green As One' group and there is a Welham Green Skate Park Group whose objective is obvious from the name.  I can provide the contact details of another group which is organising the WG Balloon Day on Saturday 15th September. The local PCSO Sam Griffin is very supportive of activities which help raise the community spirit.

I was wondering whether there was any link between this group and the other Welham Green community groups (like the Balloon Day committee) ?

Thank you all for the welcome

Thank you David for tidying up my double entry and tweeting the meeting.  Unfortunately I donít know anyone else who has twitter so havenít been able to get it re-tweeted.

Hello Bob, I will email you the contact details for committee behind this.  I donít have the details with me so it will probably be tonight.  Sam did attend the 1st meeting a few weeks ago, I understand a councillor was also expected to be in attendance but did not arrive.

Hi James.  I am not aware of any direct link with the other groups, but I donít know the people behind them so there could be some common forces.

There was a really good turnout last night, it was  great to see so many residents of Welham Green getting together. There were lots of points made, some good discussion and  ideas raised. Well done to the organisers,  I hope the group goes from strength to strength.

I tried to register earlier but it appeared to be rejected.

I am a home owner but not a resident.

My email address is not a UK address.

Is there a way that I can register.   I will be a resident in about a year's time when I retired and return to the UK.

Cheers

Mary

I have registered and posted but what I wrote doesn't seem to be showing. Perhaps all posts are moderated before going live?  All I can find is one category but it's not showing my post.

No problem.  You probably need to set out your categories based on the topics you are expecting people to discuss. At the moment you only have one category entitled 'Your first forum' with the description reading 'Description of your first forum'.  If you need any help setting it up I am happy to give you a hand.

I wonder if anyone can cast any light on a problem i have encounterd,
It has been brought to my attention that a residents association used to exist in Welham Green and it appears that it was a limited company.
If anyone can help with dates , members etc i would be extremly grateful

There used to be a North Mymms residents association - there's a page about it on this site (quite an earlier version of the template though!)

Hi Peter,

I have made you a banner and put it in the collection appearing randomly on this site.  Here is your banner ...

.. and below is a grab of the front page of this site with your banner showing.  The image was taken by me and is released under Creative Commons. By the way, you might want to try to find out what happened to the other Welham Green site http://www.welhamgreen.com/. I see you have added some of their pictures to your gallery so perhaps you have already teamed up.

Peter, I forgot to add. Let me know if you want any changes. I didn't put residents association in because of the uncertainty of the name, but once you sort the name out I can change the banner.

Hi Peter, banner changed as requested to this...

It currently links to this page http://www.welham-green.co.uk/.  I clicked on the "Visit The Forum" link but noticed that it has not been updated yet. I did a test post a few weeks ago but it has not appeared. If you are having problems please feel free to use this Welham Green section of this forum for all your needs until you get it sorted.

One other thought. Your current lead item on the front page is a piece explaining what the Welham Green Residents Association. It might be better to put that text in an About Us page and offer it as a link at the top of the site.  That way it will always be available for those wanting to know more about the organisation and it also means that you can display the latest local issues at the top of the page instead.
