Food Hazard Warning
« on: May 14, 2004, 09:31:15 am »
This food alert has been issued by Welwyn Hatfield Council. The announcement that follows was written by WHDC staff.

PRODUCT RECALL OF SAINSBURY’S FROZEN JACKET WEDGES (1KG)

Welwyn Hatfield Council Environmental Health have been made aware of a product withdrawal by Sainsbury’s of a batch of their own  brand of jacket wedges in 1kg packets.

The frozen products have been withdrawn because the plain potato wedges may have been substituted with hot and spicy wedges due to a manufacturing error.

The hot and spicy batter coating contains egg albumen and wheat, which will not be declared on the outer packaging and may therefore present a risk if consumed by people allergic to egg and/or wheat.

Sainsbury’s are implementing a full product recall of the product and adverts will appear in the national press over the weekend.

Sainsbury’s have undertaken a product withdrawal of all affected products from their stores and will be displaying point of sale notices to alert customers. They are also liaising with the representatives of the Anaphylaxis Campaign so that their members that are allergic to egg and/or wheat can be alerted to the incident and made aware of the facts.

The Product Recalled Is:

SAINSBURY’S JACKET WEDGES (1KG)

Best Before End Date March 2005

Batch Code NB4082S4

No other batches of this product are known to be affected
