Just seen this on a tweet from the WHT.

M25 shut after lorry overturns

The crash happened at about 8am today (Wednesday) between junctions 24, for Potters Bar, and 25, for Enfield.

The road is currently closed in both directions between junctions 23, for South Mimms, and 25 – causing traffic chaos for thousands of commuters.

A spokesman for the Highways Agency told the WHT a recovery assessor was en route to the scene, and the anti-clockwise carriageway will remain closed “for some time” – possibly into the afternoon.

Always worth a look at http://route.tomtom.com before you leave, live check on the traffic, extremely accurate!

Had lunch in the Two Brewers, Northaw, never seen that road so busy, seems the satnavs were guiding those from J25 up through Crews Hill, Cattlegate Road, Northaw then down Potters Bar High Street back to J24.

Google seem to get their data from the Highways Agency so it's accurate enough but only on roads they have fixed sensors on.

Tomtom on the other hand get data from cellphone movements so a group of cellphones previously moving at 60mph suddenly come to a halt and they can tell there's a jam - it's extremely accurate and will work on any road without sensors (hence how Coopers Lane Road showed up as heavy!).

I have the app on my iPhone and seeing where the jam starts, stops and how long it is gives you enough info to know whether to join or find another way. The other saturday when the snow hit it was lit up like a christmas tree!
