Rotary Christmas Sleigh
« on: December 28, 2011, 05:08:42 pm »
Brookmans Park Rotary Club would like to thank the residents of Brookmans Park and Welham Green for their generosity over the Christmas period.
The Christmas Sleigh street collections during the weeks leading up to Christmas raised a fantastic total of 2.161.95.
Add to this the amount raised at the Christmas Tree lighting and the static collections at South Mimms Services and Tesco in Hatfield
and the final total raised stands at 3,722.73. This year we are supporting the Alzheimer's Society, The Orpheus Centre,
Aspire Powerchair Football Club and other charities supported by Rotary. There will also be a donation to Children in Need.

Hi Marty,

Will you also be knocking door-to-door collecting money and, if so, is it worth listing the causes that will benefit from any fund raising?

I'm sorry Saffie, I was hoping that the routes would be published by Welwyn Hatfield Times but they didn't include us this year. I'll make sure the details are posted well in advance next year. You could come along to the Christmas Tree lighting at Welham Green next Wednesday if she would like to see Father Christmas and the sleigh. We'll be there just after 7.00pm.

Hi Marty, where can I find a list of all the charities you are collecting for this year?  You have listed the main ones, but I am just interested  to know who else benefits from the collection.

Brookmans Park Rotary Club would like to thank everyone in Brookmans Park and Welham Green that donated to our Christmas Sleigh charity collection. In total we collected just over 3,000 which will be distributed to the NSPCC, The RAF Benevolent Fund and other charities supported by Rotary. We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and successful New Year.

A great big thank you to all those residents of Brookmans Park and Welham Green who contributed to the Christmas Tree and Christmas Sleigh collections this year. We collected just over 3,200 at the Christmas Tree lighting and on the street collections. We are also grateful to Tesco in Hatfield where we collected over 500 on Friday 20th December. This year we will be giving this money to the Alzheimer's Society and Isabel Hospice. Many thanks once again and a very happy Christmas to all.

What time does the sleigh start on its rounds - just a rough idea to know when to tell visitors to come and see it?

The members of the Rotary Club would like to thank everyone who donated to our collections over the Christmas period. We collected just over 4,000 at our Christmas Tree event, our Christmas Sleigh collections and our static collection at Tesco Hatfield. Our chosen charities this year are Macmillan Cancer Support, Wheelpower and the Barracuda Swimming Club.

This year's sleigh times and routes are listed below. Our main charities this year are Noah's Ark Children's Hospice and St George Foundation who look after children who have lost their parents in the ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone.
