ATM Tampering
« on: October 16, 2011, 11:04:33 am »
I have noted that the ATM machine in Bradmore Green has recently had an illegal device fitted to it. Some of these devices are very complex and hard to spot.

Before using the ATM, I suggest that you run your hand along the top of the machine above the keypad. If you feel a small hole above the keypad, take a closer look. It is common practice in these cases to have a mobile phone hidden above the keypad so when a card is placed in the slot, it will record you punching in your pin number. When your card is not returned, normally people walk away and phone their bank. Whilst you are doing this, the offenders quickly retrieve your card and they have a record of your pin number.

If you feel the ATM has been tampered with, then please call the police. Do not attempt to remove any devices yourself as some of these can cause an injury. In some cases the offenders are close by and will not take too kindly to you removing their devices.

If you feel you are in any danger or feel threatened then please call 999, for non-emergency situations, call the new easier to remember number, 101
PCSO, Louise Luxford, the police community support officer for Brookmans Park and Little Heath. For non-emergencies, please calll 0845 33 00222.

In a similar vein, I was told today that the Q8 Petrol Station in Station Road Cuffley is a good place to get your credit card cloned.......be aware, be very aware!  >:(

I try and go inside for cash as I think it helps keep the post office open.  Am I right in thinking it is assessed (and the owners are paid) according to the number of transactions?

They don't tamper with ATM's in Shenley, they do a complete take away job by simply nicking a JCB from the M25 site and taking the whole ..ing Tesco ATM and wall out grandis!
