The pigs in Leach Fields near Gobions Wood
« on: October 14, 2011, 10:10:11 pm »
For the last week I've been hearing about pigs running free in Gobions and finally saw them for myself today - three small pigs rooting in the field near the old water works. Two pink with black spots and one ginger, all very young, sweet and friendly (they let me stroke them).  :)

No, but it makes a 'crackling' good yarn   :icon_jokercolor:

Didn't see them today, but they've obviously been busy digging up more grass on the edge of the fields.

The pigs are still down there, we spotted 5 of them, digging up the gobions. They are very friendly, and seem fine with the dogs as well, but where have they come from?   [/img]

Lovely picture, thank you   :)    the one I took with my 'phone didn't come out very well.

I think they must come from the smallholding where the farm shop is, I expect they've found a hole in the fence. Hopefully they return to a nice warm sty at night!

Maybe the Piggies need to build a new house, not one of straw, otherwise I fear the big bad wolf (AKA The Beast of Brookmans Park) will huff and puff, blow the house down and gobble them up!!  ;)

Just come back from Leach Fields (8:30pm Sunday) where two piglets have escaped and running around the paths next to their enclosures.

If anyone knows how to contact the owners could they please let them know.

Would be useful if a sign could be visible somewhere with the owners contact number - that way if there are any escapes they could be quickly notified.

I understand that last night someone broke down the fence to the pig enclosure at the south end of Leach Fields and then attacked the pigs. Leaving at least one seriously injured.

What sort of excuses for humanity live around here?

Somebody must know who did this. If so, please report it to our local PCSO.

Disgusting.

Do you know who rents the fields behind the houses on Bluebridge Avenue - i  believe these are Leach Fields as well?

That really is terrible   :'(, I'm very fond of all the pigs and often stop for a 'chat'.

Were these the two by the entrance from Bluebridge, or the 5 or so further up?

I have just seen this posted on the Brookmans Park Newsletter Facebook page. Does anyone know whether there is an issue with the pigs and how to contact the owners?

There are two sets of owners.
The top pigs are one owner and the bottom two are another.
