Brookmans Park Fun Run SUNDAY 2nd OCTOBER
« on: July 19, 2011, 08:20:43 pm »
Sorry folks - due to unforseen circumstances the organisers have had to change the date of the Run. There are also a few changes to the age restrictions so please read on. Apologies!

Brookmans Park School PTA will be hosting its first ever Fun Run on Sunday 2nd October!    :D :D :D

There will be a 10k run for those more serious runners, preceded by a '1 mile dash' for children under 12. Details & routes are being planned but as soon as we have more information we will post it on here.

The children's run will be free but we will be trying to raise money for a local charity (details TBA) so would ask that the children try to get as much sponsorship money as possible over the summer holidays. The 10k run costs 10 to reserve a number.

We will let you know as soon as the entry/sponsorship forms are online. Anyone can enter, not just schoolchildren & parents, & runners of all abilities are welcomed. However, spaces will be limited so once details are available, book early to reserve your number.

If you have any queries please contact the organisers at brookmansparkrun@gmail.com.

Thank you!

Less than a month to go so get training & register for Brookmans Park School's first Fun Run! There are children & adult runs on offer - register online at https://sites.google.com/site/brookmansparkrun/.

The route for the adults' 10k is now on the website so take a look! You'll find it's a mixture of road & cross-country. All abilities welcome - it's the taking part that counts!

We can only accept a limited number of participants so register now to secure your place!

Thanks,

Helen

Don't forget it's the Fun Run on Sunday! The children's race STARTS at 9.30am & the adults' at 10.15am so please come along a few minutes earlier to get your number!

The children's race is free although we encourage your children to raise money in sponsorship (form attached) & the adults' race is 10.  You can also get the sponsorship form & register online at https://sites.google.com/site/brookmansparkrun/ or go via the PTA section of the school website...or just turn up & register on the day!

There are medals for everyone, trophies for the winners & tea, coffee & bacon butties will be on sale!

The children have chosen the charity to be Children in Need so come along & support your local school whilst also raising money for a very good cause.

And...if you can spare an hour or so to help on the day, please email brookmansparkrun@gmail.com. Perhaps you & your children would like to help marshal the route for the adults' 10k? We need an army of helpers to make this event 'run' smoothly!

Thank you,

PTA Committee

Thank you to everyone who came & supported us today! We had a good turnout for our first ever run & the weather certainly helped, although it must have been rather hot for the 10k runners, especially up the numerous hills!

And around 70 children turned out for the 1 mile 'dash', meaning that we hope to raise a good amount for Children in Need!

Hello,

Do you know what kind of time the winner of the race acheived?

The winner did it in 41.05mins & the course was slightly over at 10.3 km, something that we'll have to rectify next year!

In my prevous post I should have thanked Peach Pubs - some of the Brookmans staff came over & cooked bacon butties throughout the morning, which were very well received!

Thanks to you and your team for a well-organised run.

My only comment would be that if you're going to have a loop, it's probably better to have it earlier in the race to avoid confusion as to who's been through a point once or twice - confusion is more likely to arise when the field has split up, ie further into the race.

My thanks to all the marshalls who did a great job.

I'm looking forward to next year!

Thanks ADM for your feedback. Unfortunately the route had to be changed at the last minute due to circumstances outside the organiser's control (hence also why it ended up being slightly longer than 10K) but there will be more time to prepare for next year's event, more arrows & hopefully even more marshals!
