Sony TV with stand and remote
« on: January 06, 2011, 10:01:17 am »
Does anyone want an old Sony TV (not flat screen) and stand. It's a 24 inch Trinitron. The TV works and has a remote but no batteries. The TV might be handy for gaming. Otherwise we will take it to the tip. Free for anyone able to collect. Please send a personal message if interested.  The image below is taken from the internet and is not of the TV that is being recycled.

If nobody here wants it, then I think TVs always go quickly on the freecycle sites

Yes, I could use that, or even the jumble sale tonight (if they take TVs) but we decided some time ago, following a suggestion by Local Walker, to set up a recycling facility as part of the forum for local free cycling.

That's why I said if - just don't like the idea of useful things going into landfill

Hi David,

If its a flat glass screen (CRT) it still has a residual value of 10 to 20 approx . Sony Triniton (Glass) is still respected and provides a great picture.

The remote will be able to be used with any old sony trinitron tv as they are all the same.

Id stick it on ebay-you never know-Ive just looked on completed listing and the market is healthy in that price mark.

As an alt maybe phone up a few TV repair places-they some times take them for free and sell them on.

Not sure the jumble guys will take it. I tried donating electrical stuff to a charity and they cant take it due to health and safety (that was a few years ago so things may have changed)

good luck...bp

Hi BrookyP,

Thanks for the advice, but I'd rather recycle it locally. I will leave it in the garage until someone responds. I'd rather give it away than sell it. And you are right, it does have a lovely picture.  The Sony Trinitron was a good set.
