PC on Go Slow
« on: December 08, 2010, 11:15:41 pm »
Around 11pm each evening, my pc becomes really slow and radio reception on line breaks up.  I've opened Task Manager because I thought something must be going on in the background, but nothing showed - I'm only using Windows Mail and Explorer.

Is there something I can do about it please?

I clicked on this headline expecting to read a post about local police officers taking industrial action.

Hi,

Check you have't got a scheduled action automated at that time. Perhaps your anti-virus is set to scan your computer at 11pm? That would certainly slow things down.

Thanks, David.  I looked into Avira AntiVirus and found that the last complete system scan was in May, so that was worth finding.  There is a daily update which doesn't seem to have a time I can set but happens around 22.00hr so it could be that.
