Cleaner recommendations wanted please
« on: September 21, 2010, 12:30:03 am »
Hi All,

Can anyone tell me how much a local cleaner should cost per hour?

Thanks,
Aidan

Hi Aidan

It depends if you want to-

a) Pay as little as possible and probably exploit somebody.

b) Pay how much the service provided is worth to YOU (ignoring whatever the 'going' rate is) and thus you will
sleep well at night and possibly even go to heaven and probably get a more thorough and reliable service.

Hi Aidan,

You had me worried for a moment then when I read your thread heading 'Cleaner question'.  I fully expected to see a removed post in the admin section entitled Dirty Question.

Aidan - there is a cleaner advertising in the forum business directory - £10 ph

I would have thought something between minimum wage and £10 per hour would be reasonable.

Thanks all, I was thinking about £10ph and you are right epiphany, I don't want to exploit anyone.  Besides, all my illegal immigrants are busy sewing footballs in my loft space...  ;D

I hope that you deduct emergency tax in the absence of a tax clearance certificate or coding assessment. Otherwise you'd be feeding the "black economy" and will be complicit in tax evasion. The least you'd want to do is to get your collar felt by 'The Taxman'.

Why would you do that ? You wouldn't ask that of a tradesman, for example a plumber who comes to unblock a sink.

As long as they give you a receipt for the work carried out then that's all you should be reasonably expected to do. It's up to the cleaner to sort their tax affiars out.

Indeed true - BUT will AW actually ask for a "Receipt" ?? If he gets one, then no problem - if he doesn't then there IS a problem.

Hi jmj, welcome to the forum.

If you look in the business directory (on the left-hand side of the front page ) and put 'cleaning' into the 'search by business type', there are 11 ads there.

If anyone wants to recommend their cleaner to jmj, or indeed any cleaner wants to offer their services to jmj, please contact jmj direct.

Hi jmj,

Welcome to the forum. Mermaid's recommendation is the best course of action; there are many local cleaners registered in the free business directory.  This forum is for people to discuss local and off topic issues, rather than for appeals for help. I hope you find what you want in the business directory. I will now lock this thread. Good luck.

David

We are also looking for a cleaner!  Would be very grateful if you could PM me if you know of anyone who is reliable, thorough, honest and doesn't mind cats.

Looked at the ads, but have to admit would prefer recommendation if possible.

Thank you.

Of course :)

No PMs for me either.  I fear that good cleaners with spare capacity are rarer than hens' teeth!

Me again (rediscovered my password at last!).
I live on Bradmore Green and am looking for a reliable, honest cleaner for just a couple of hours a week. If anyone has any recommendations, I'd be grateful.
Many thanks
