North Mymms Parish Plan
« on: June 03, 2010, 01:26:12 pm »
The Parish Plan Questionnaires are now in the post and every household will be receiving them in the next few days. There will be one questionnaire for all the adults in the household, and one for all the young people under 18. Please complete the questionnaires as soon as possible and return them - either by post in the envelope provided, or into the special boxes in the following locations:

Dellsome Lane Post Office, Welham Green,
Welham Estates, Welham Green
Brookmans Park News, Bradmore Green
Entrance, United Reformed Church, Brookmans Park
The Builders Arms, Heath Road, Little Heath
Entrance, Christ Church, Little Heath

You will also be able to access and complete the questionnaires online on this website at www.brookmans.com/parishplan and we can accept them on our stand at Village Day.

The deadline for returning the questionnaires, whether by post or online, is Friday 25th June.

Just filled out the survey. Didn't take too long. Interesting questions. Would be fascinated to see the aggregated results. Should make an interesting read.

Thank you David   :)

The questionnaires completed online will be the easiest for us to analyse, as we have a software programme to do the hard work    ;)

I have added a poll to try to find out how many forum users will fill out the survey.  Scroll to the top of this thread to vote.

What will happen once the survey is completed?
Will we notice any difference?

When we have all the completed questionnaires (by the 25th June), then we will start the analysis. When that is completed, we will be setting up focus groups to consider, research and report with recommendations on each of the important topics eg Housing, Highways, Community, Transport, Youth etc.  We hope that the focus groups will be meeting in September.

You will notice that there is a section in the questionnaire which invites anyone who is interested in getting involved at this stage, to give their details so that members of the steering committee can contact them and invite them to take part.

When the focus groups have reported back on their topics, their recommendations will go forward to be published in the first Parish Plan, hopefully in Jan 2011.

Will you notice a difference? Well some things may happen quite quickly, others may take longer. For example, if a large number of North Mymms residents wanted more benches in the village centres, or thought that it would contribute to more of a community spirit to have a 'Good Neighbour' scheme, then that kind of thing can be set up very quickly. One good example is that out of the preliminary research that we carried out last year, it was discovered that the young people of the Parish needed more to do, so thanks to one of our forward-thinking youth leaders, a new scheme is being set up even as I write.

Other things will take longer - a zebra crossing in BP village for example - but these things are more likely to happen with the publication of the Parish Plan than without it!

The Parish Plan is the way to put views forward between ourselves. However, as a detailed piece of public consultation it will carry some clout with borough, county and national authorities (I hope) and so the more people who put in a response, the greater the clout we will all have.

Whatever your views please get them in!

Are there any forum members who haven't received their questionnaires yet? I know they can be accessed online, but we would like to check that the mailed ones are arriving OK ........

Sorry about that Peter, but it may be because your business address appears more than once on the Welhat database?

Never mind, rather too many than too few   ;)

Can I please remind everyone that the closing date for completed questionnaires is 25th June, whether posted back or filled in online.

You can also hand them in to our stand at Village Day this Saturday. Look forward to seeing you all.

Not sure where that figure came from.  Postal responses go to the Parish Council office and hundreds have been received already.  As stated above, the questionnaire can also be completed on line which simplifies the analysing of the results.

I counted the poll questionnaire at the top of the page which I admit only gives the figures of those who have logged on to this thread.  Glad the response is good.

Tomorrow is the deadline for getting your questionnaires completed. We can still count them if they are posted tomorrow, in time for the North Mymms Parish Plan Steering Committee meeting next Tuesday.

Questionnaires can also be completed online, see the link at the top of this page.

The deadline for online questionnaires has been extended to Monday night, so that anyone who has run out of time for the paper submission can still complete a form online.

Can I also issue a plea that, if you have under 18's in your household, you encourage them to fill in the young people's questionnaire? They are the future of the community and their views are important. Some may also wish to volunteer for our Focus Group on Youth.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has taken the time and trouble to complete the North Mymms Parish Plan questionnaires.   :D

Now we are starting the analysis.

Anyone who has been kind enough to volunteer to help with some committee work, or with a focus group, will be contacted in the next few weeks. To give you an idea of timing, we hope to have the focus groups up and running in September.

Anyone who hasn't volunteered, but would like to, can IM me through this site.

Many thanks again - we couldn't do it without you!

The working parties/focus groups are now up and running. Everyone who has volunteered has been contacted, but some weren't able to make the Open meeting on the 4th November to choose the group they were interested in.

Second meetings of specific working groups are taking place in the next 2 weeks, if you are a North Mymms resident who volunteered to take part in one of the groups but couldn't make the Open meeting, it is not too late to join in, but you must come to the next meeting.

The Development Working Group will be holding their first meeting at 7.30pm on Monday 22nd November, the Leisure Working Group will be holding their first meeting at 7.30pm on Thursday 25th November, whilst the Environmental Matters and Services for Residents are currently combined and are holding their first meeting on Monday 22nd November.

Please IM me if you are interested and I will put you in touch with the facilitators.

The completed North Mymms Parish Plan is now available to download at the following link:

http://www.brookmans.com/plan/final.pdf

Many thanks to all those who took the trouble to fill in the questionnaire, and to all the volunteers who have worked so hard to interpret the data and to bring the project to fruition.

There will now be a meeting in January for more volunteers to help fulfill parts of the plan. Please IM me if you would like to help   :)

A printed summary will be sent to all 3851 households in the Parish and 349 businesses and organisations.

Printed copies of the full document will be available to view at the Parish Council offices and at the library, but it is envisaged that most households will download it from this site. We would have loved to have been able to send a full copy to every household, but in the current economic climate, we have try to keep costs to a minimum.
