There have been a number of posts recently that have broken this site's forum agreement and the site's editorial guidelines. In all cases the posts have been edited by moderators and the posters told.

However, this has recently become more time-consuming. It's meant that we have had to take the unfortunate decision to close the forum overnight because our volunteer moderators, who do an excellent job, do not work through the night.

As a result of a number of incidents we have updated the forum agreement (which all sign up to when registering). The following three paragraphs have been added.  Please be sure you are comfortable with these rules.

Quote
This forum will not tolerate the harassment of forum members, either through posts that appear to be trolling or flaming as explained above, or via email or personal messages. Anyone found to be abusing the contacts made through this forum, in public or in private, may face having their membership revoked.

Quote
These rules exist for the protection of all. We are a tolerant forum, and the moderators frequently give posters the benefit of the doubt, but if someone breaks the forum rules repeatedly we may be forced to suspend or even cancel their forum membership.

Quote
This decision will not be taken lightly - the forum moderators discuss all incidents and try to reach consensus. However, those who abuse the rules and ignore this agreement, which they have entered into on registration, should not be able to spoil this facility for others.

We will be notifying all registered members of these changes via the site's personal message system, as promised in the forum agreement.

The Brookmans Park Newsletter team hopes the forum, which has served this community for more than 10 years, can continue to be used by all to discuss local issues in a civilised and non-threatening manner.

The Brookmans Park Newsletter has been supporting the village and our local community since 1998 by providing free, interactive tools for all to use.
