Lost icons in Firefox
« on: September 05, 2008, 06:01:02 am »
Hi all,

We seem to have a problem with images and icons when viewing the site with Mozilla Firefox.

For some reason, all the icons in the forum (and all the images on the site) disappeared overnight.

It's happening on BBC News Online and other sites I have tried this morning, too.

All the images and icons are there if you are using Internet Explorer, Safari and Browzar, so it must be a Firefox issue.

If you use Firefox, you can still post messages and do everything else, such as quote from posts and reply to them by using the text prompts, but, for some reason, the icons are not visible in that browser.

Regards

David

Hi John,

I also have the latest version and there are no icons at all.  Strange.

OK for me too but I don't know which version of Firefox I've got (I think it may be the latest one)

Dave

I don't have firefox, but most browsers have got a setting somewhere to not download images (for times when you are on a very slow internet connection) - I suggest you go through the preferences and check to see if that has been enabled or not. It is possible I guess that your preferences file has become corrupted.

It's probably my settings then, must have changed overnight. The reason I thought it may be more widespread is that a forum member messaged me asking why they could not see icons either. So perhaps it's affecting some and not others.

I would suggest clearing the cache first and see if that clears it.

Not sure where the setting is in Firefox 3.0 but in 2.0 it is under Tools somewhere I think.
