Text taken from the link in the tweet above. Is the bit in red bold below a typo or is it train-speak meaning trains stop at every station?

http://www.firstcapitalconnect.co.uk/plan-your-journey/planned-timetables-changes/details/GN2014-01-12/

From approximately 0800, an hourly service will operate between London King’s Cross and Peterborough, running non-stop between Finsbury Park and Stevenage. Some additional services will operate between Stevenage and Peterborough.

Cambridge and King’s Lynn routes: All day, an hourly service will operate between London King’s Cross and Cambridge. Trains will run on-stop between Finsbury Park and Stevenage. An additional hourly all stations service will operate between Stevenage and Cambridge.
An hourly service will operate between London King’s Cross and Ely with most trains running non-stop between London King’s Cross and Cambridge. Buses wil replace trains between Ely and King's Lynn.

Hertford route all stations services: All day, an hourly service will operate between London King’s Cross and Hertford North. Buses will replace trains between Hertford North and Stevenage. Journey times will be extended by up to 30 minutes.

Welwyn route all stations services: All day, buses will replace trains between Alexandra Palace and Stevenage via Welwyn Garden City. Trains will only operate between London King’s Cross and Alexandra Palace. Journey times will be increased by up to 60 minutes.

Re the typo in FCC's details above, I am pretty sure it should read non-stop. Just checked with National Rail and there are replacement bus services for part of the journey to Brookmans Park or Potters Bar for every train out of London.

I'm pleased that I looked in here before setting off for an appointment in Stevenage this morning. There was no information given at Welham Green station that anything was amiss, but I observed the 313s apparently operating the inner suburban service without undue hindrance, then a Class 67 scurried north as if on 'Thunderbird' duties.

Reasoning that the problem might be localised damage, I elected to change trains at windswept Hatfield rather than WGC. Good call as it turned out, the train I joined there announced that it would not be stopping at WGC. Strangely, this turned out to mean it used exactly the same track and wires as normal, but merely sailed through! The Thunderbird 67 was now sitting in the entry to WGC stock sidings, with a sorry-looking 313 set beyond. This had its pantograph unfolded back over the adjacent coach.

When I returned around 13:00, this set was parked tidily (I had thought the loco would have towed it to Hornsey depot), minus its pantograph (dis-)assembly. Technicians with an overhead platform were attending to the knitting within the yard.

The line opened around 7:40. I'm guessing there will be similar issues tomorrow :(

(Full marks for FCC for only running a shortened train for the 6:38 service this morning. I mean, you wouldn't expect early morning services to be busier on a strike day after all, would you.  It appeared that most of North London was trying to get on it!)

There are overhead line problems again.  Trains are being delayed and they aren't stopping at Welham Green.

Does anyone know what the current new works are at the station?  They've been busily erecting putting a wierd white metal fence down the middle of both platforms at stations all along the line. They're quite expensive looking fences but with big gaps and I'm quite at a loss to see what the point of it is.  Just curious.

They are 'anti suicide' fences. There's a lot more people discussing them (pros and cons) here:

http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=96609

They have been proven effective at reducing the number of attempted suicides on the line to Brighton so they are now being installed on most of the stations going North from Finsbury Park as well.

I'm all for preventing suicides but I don't understand how these help.  It must be costing a fortune!

I'll look at the link.

It is all very sad when people are so low that they attempt or do actually commit suicide. I have in the past had first hand experience of dealing with young people who had been near such a condition or had tried and failed. There are so many reasons and causes. Whilst as ADM says I'm all for looking at ways of preventing the railways being used in this manner, a person who is determined will just go elsewhere. Suicide is tragic on so many levels and is particularly difficult for train drivers who have to cope with such incidents, not to mention the disruption to travel. Clearly, if Network Rail see these fences as one way of preventing such actions, they are worthwhile even if it saves just one life. However, as with all these situations, preventing people attempting in the first place and identifying and supporting them is the key. There are many organisations that do help and can give some of the answers. Perhaps The Samaritans is the largest and best known. http://www.samaritans.org/how-we-can-help-you/what-speak-us-about/i-want-kill-myself?gclid=COCllv_ZsL0CFc_MtAodlj4AWA
