It was closed this morning as well, diverted into Kings Cross.  Kept a watching brief during the afternoon as there were services running however they had suspended departures again as I was leaving the office.  By the time I reached Moorgate they had just resumed service and I managed to catch the 17:08 which departed at about 17:20.

Would suggest checking FCC / National Rail enquires before leaving for the station in the morning, as I think it may be fair to assume travel will be disrupted in the morning!  Deep joy!!  :(

First Radlett, now St Neots, this has to be more than coincidence.

It appear trains are completely broken again this morning - signal failure at New Barnet and now reports of the overhead powerlines down between Brookmans Park and Potters Bar. Network rail are saying that no trains are currently able to run to Brookmans Park.

This morning the 8 o'clock train from Brookmans Park took down the overhead lines just outside Potters Bar, by the Cranborne Industrial Estate. After an hour on the train, the passengers disembarked, and walked down the line to the Public footpath at the Industrial Estate, and then onto Potters Bar.

South Bound Trains still not stopping at Brookmans Park, or Welham Green  this evening.

I did post this a couple of years ago, but a reminder if you are using a season ticket including a travel card (but never actually go to outer London) it is cheaper to buy a split ticket.

E.g.

Brookmans Park - London Zones 1-6 is 299.60 a month

HOWEVER

Brookmans Park - Alexandra Palace is 134.40 a month. A Zone 1-3 Oystercard (allowing you to get from Ally Pally to London and around the central underground) is 136.80 a month, which saves you nearly 30 a month in fares. It also means you can use an Oyster card rather than a paper ticket in central London which speeds up going through barriers etc.

Surely then James you have to get off at Ally Pally in order to touch-in your Oyster card which may not be that good if going through to Moorgate / Kings Cross etc (legally!!)

If you have a season ticket on your oyster, you do not need to touch in or touch out - most days I just 'touch out' at my destination station (pimlico underground) and the system just lets me out without additional charge as it presumes (correctly) that I started my journey inside my allowed travelcard area. Likewise, if the ticket is checked on the train in zones 1-3 it shows as being ok as you are within your allowed area for the travelcard.

I am wondering whether it's worth building a feed on the front page of our site to the latest updates from @FirstCC and perhaps @TubeUpdates - would anyone value these?

I have been wondering whether it's worth having a widget pulling in the latest travel information from sources monitoring delays on the roads, tubes and trains. Would anyone use this? I have created a Twitter List, below, and included the following sources:
Below is a test of what it would look like. Have I missed any valuable sources out?

I would certainly appreciate it.
If I'm using the train, I often check the FCC link on the front page to make sure the trains are running on time.

I don't use a smart phone so, for me, it's very handy and I'm sure I'm not alone in that.

Thanks Angel, might give it a try. Will need to move things around a bit on the front page. I could put it where the Facebook box is, shorten that, move it down and get rid of the Google Adverts on the right. Will have a play and post when it's done.

I've had a bit of a rejig to the front page.
  • Put a link to the Twitter travel updates at the top right - the picture of the train.
  • Moved the Facebook fan box down below our tweets.
  • Removed the old cookie warning box and replaced it with a box that, once you have accepted cookies will go away (unless you clear your cache daily).
We can easily revert.

Is there anyway of removing info about the Thameslink services which don't go anywhere near Brookmans Park? All the top 8 links currently visable on that new feed are TL ones....

I think that if we have the feed from @FirstCC - First Capital Connect on Twitter we will get all their announcements. It's easy to scroll down, and, you never know, locals might need to know about Thameslink services, too.
