New Shop opposite Alldays
« on: February 22, 2003, 02:57:36 am »
I see a one of these has appeared: (Well, the sign has - presumably the shop front and contents are following soon!)

Anyone got any idea what a one of these is?! Is it like homeopathic, but er.. natural? ???

Google threw up this 'mission statement' for an American naturopathic practice

  • We believe in tapping into the natural healing power of the human body.
  • We will identify and treat the root cause of your health problem, rather than just suppress your symptoms.
  • We will examine any mental, emotional or physical factors that may be affecting your health
  • We will treat you as a whole, unique individual, not just a collection of symptoms or as a disease.
  • We teach you about the cause and prevention of illness to empower you to take control over your own health.
According to another American site, an Advanced Diploma in Naturapathy involves four years, or 3,000 hours study, before qualification, including 1,000 hours of clinical training. The course includes...

  • Herbal Medicine
  • Nutrition
  • Homeopathy
  • Body Work
  • Health Sciences
  • Clinical Training
  • Clinical Studies
  • Counselling & Communication
  • Naturopathic Modalities, which includes subjects such as Iridology, Flower Remedies, Naturopathic Studies, Subtle Body Healing and other studies within the Naturopathic realm
Naturopathy Online describes what it sees as the benefits of naturopathy. Click here

The Skeptic's Dictionary, the so-called 'reference book with attitude', has another take on the issue. Click here

Both sites have links to other sites and articles supporting their particular stance for or against naturopathic medicine.

I find it sort of amusing that the largest shop in BP will sell Homoeopathic “medicine.”  I assume most of the shop will remain empty, with an extremely small counter tucked in one corner. :)

They have obviously done their market research and looked at this forum.
Counselling and communication.
Mental and emotional.
Should make a fortune.

Good morning!

Hoorah for Jazz and Mermaid!  Glad to see some other Members feel the same!  Is there no thread that has not had an inane comment made by "our diamond member"!  Perhaps he would be better suited producing a detailed review on the editor's 10 walks, as rambling seems to be his particular penchant.

Back to the New Shop.  I for one hope that this new venture will succeed.

Blimey! I might not agree with most things JET says, but I don't think it's right to post a torrent of quite hurtful abuse! Posting one's views is one thing, but posting personal stuff is quite another.

I enjoy reading what JET says, as at least it's "thought provoking"!

You seem to have misconstrued something Susan, I have not mentioned JET. In fact I'm rather looking forward to seeing him in the new shop...................

Dear Jazz and Mellisa,
You obviously do not understand irony and are deeply lacking in the humour department.
If you care to peruse the trend of the forum people have been trying to avoid personal attacks in this forum as it is counterproductive and rude.
Having  had a lovelly sporting weekend in our county with good company, I log on and find a mouhfull from people who have contributed nothing to this site.
I think your posts make my post quite apt.
What a sad shame.
regards,
jet

Jet has never stooped to personal abuse. He is always fair and manages abuse everyone on mass and equally.  ;)

Anyway, to return to topic: Does that course read as well when its

•      Medicine
•      Food
•      Water
•      Exercise
•      Health Sciences
•      Self help
•      Lab tests
•      A sympathetic chat
•      Startrek style techno babble

I wish them all the best, but I can’t see why a fat forty year old who never exercises would need to use them.  :)

I am missinterpreted, missunderstood and becoming increasingly paranoid.
JF you are not fat, but like Garfield and Cartman, just big boned.
regards,
jet

I gather its meant in jest,
and I suppose I am fair game,
but these knocks are  like the rest,
and hurt me just the same.

and as most things need explaining, it rhymes.

I for one am really looking forward to a coffee enema and some wholesome colonic irrigation.  In the past trying to do it myself has proved difficult in the extreme...:)

...and since I don't have a garden hose, borrowing others is likely to get me in trouble one day.
