Rotary's very popular and successful charity sponsored swim will be held at the Furzefield Pool in Potters Bar on Saturday 9th March starting at 5.30pm. The format is that teams of 5 swimmers swim in rotation for 20 minutes with the objective of maximising the number of lengths swum for which the swimmers are sponsored on a per length basis.

Whilst we have had great response so far there are still spaces left for swimmers of all ages and abilities - so far swimmers signed up range from 7 years of age to 60++.

If you would like to take part please contact Robert Ward on 01707 645343 or email enquiries@brookmansparkrotary.org.uk

This year there is even more of an incentive to enter a team and get as much sponsorship as you can.

Why?

Well this year Brookmans Park Rotary want each team to receive half the sponsorship money their team raises for their own charity or good cause!

So come on all the PTAs, local sports clubs, charities, voluntary groups etc.  Why not raise your own funds and get fit at the same time with Brookmans Park Rotary?

And if you are planning on just entering a team for the fun of it, why not nominate a charity to support and give them a wonderful surprise!

Our swim took place last Saturday and initial indications suggest we will have raised over £4,000. Many thanks to all those who took part and their generous sponsors. One of the teams that took part was the Past It Presidents.

Last week children from Little Heath, St Giles and Brookmans Park schools received certificates for taking part in the annual Brookmans Park Rotary Club Sponsored Swim. Club president Barbara Middleton presented the certificates during a presentation evening at Old Owen’s Sports Club in Potters Bar.

This year a total of 18 teams took part in the 21st staging of this popular local event. In total they raised almost £5,000 by swimming a total of 570 lengths at Furzefield Pool in Potters Bar. Swimmers also included teams from Potters Bar swimming club and St John’s church as well as local residents and supporters and members of Rotary.

Barbara thanked all the swimmers for their support as well as the management of The Furzefield Centre and the Potters Bar Lifesaving Club for helping to put on the event this year.

Representatives from the NSPCC, The RAF Benevolent Club and the Alzheimer’s Society also attended the event and were presented with cheques for monies raised at the swim and throughout the Rotary year.

Pictured with Barbara Middleton are Sam Wilkins of the NSPCC, Paul Hewson of the RAF Benevolent Fund and members of the Diva Dolphins who raised a fantastic £655.

I have merged the presentation post with the existing post about this topic so that all the background information and earlier pictures are in the same thread.
